Vibe of the Week: party (SHUT DOWN)

Honesty time again: If someone were to ask me who my favorite hip-hop artist is (which is honestly pointless to ask me anyway because I'm horribly indecisive by nature--btw don't ask how long it took me to pick a VOW this time around...), Sik-K wouldn't have made the short list.

Sorry Sik-K...

I'll admit that I'm not totally familiar with the entirety of his work (I've only listened to a handful of his songs), but in general he has been very hit and miss with me so far. I generally like him alright when he features in songs but I tend to not have strong feelings about his songs in general. Not entirely sure why, but I suspect it might have something to do with his auto-tune style that often leaves me in a neutral territory.

This song though...this song. We definitely got a hit.

This was another bleary-eyed wake up call. Just like with Lookin', I happened to be scrolling through my Facebook in my (usually futile) attempt to wake up for work when this came up on my feed. I hesitated a bit but saw Crush was involved and decided to give it a chance.

I gambled and I won.

I was instantly awake. Once again we had a song prepping you for a night out (though unfortunately it was a weekday so I was doing anything but).

Admittedly, I'm about 70% sure that this song sold me more because of Crush and GroovyRoom than Sik-K himself--after all, both of them have never done me wrong in the past. But don't get it twisted--I do think that Sik-K was gettin' it on this one as the song suits him very well.

To each their own, though, right? So I'll let you guys judge for yourself as I present this week's VOW:
